About Us
Two Rivers is a ministry that seeks to unite believers and churches together in the desire to establish a 24 hour a day prayer and worship ministry to the Living God.
Our vision is for the entire city and region around Cairo, IL which has a history of extreme darkness, to be a city of refuge, healing and the manifest presence of God.
We also have a call, as scripture mandates, to be a defender of widows and orphans, to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give water to the thirsty, heal the sick and free those who are bound. It is in these acts of compassion and justice that our prayers and faith find their outward expression.
And finally, we are called to help equip the body to live out a life of unity and love. To call out, raise up, send out, support and encourage those who would accept the call to do the same.
Two Rivers is not a church, but a ministry that believes in the goodness of God’s plan for the church and as such seeks to support, encourage and rally the church to her full destiny as the Bride of Christ.

We have a longing for more. More of Christ, more love, more joy, more of God’s power impacting our lives and those around. And we are convinced that God desires us to experience more.

We have come to realize that in the midst of us asking for God to transform a community, a nation, a world—that he must first begin with us.
I have had to come face to face with a God who has gently, but firmly taken me by the hand and said, “These ideas, presumptions, and ways of thinking in the past have been well and good, but NOT my best for you. There is a greater depth to me than you even realize to ask for.” [Jess McClure]
It is this process of personal transformation that God is able to strip away the things that hinder us from going to greater depths with Him. And it’s within this striping, this realization of powerlessness to do anything apart from God, that we begin to experience His supernatural life and power. It is His power that can then transform a city, transform the world. a community—
I am undone as God has certainly begun a divine unraveling of my life. As I joined my team this year in seeking the Lord for what He wanted to do in this community and the part He wanted us to have . . everything started to change. I have begun an anxious pursuit of God . . . a bigger God . . . a book of Acts God . . . a God who performs miracles . . . a God who works outside of our boxes. In the process of God calling me into a lifestyle of prayer I have begun to see Him answer those prayers, not only in this community, but in me. He has awakened my heart. [Sara Rust]
We are first a community of like minded believers, seeking to be obedient to the Holy Spirit’s leading as we go to greater depths in learning and living out what it means to love God and to love our neighbor. We are not a slick and polished organization, but a community of friends with shared vision and values. As such, we are passionate about developing people rather than our profile.
We are also part of a community called Cairo, Illinois. This is the place we call home, where the people we have come to know and love, live. The place where our prayers receive feet as we live out Christ’s love in real and tangible ways. This is a place we contended for - knowing that God has a special plan in his heart for this community and we desire to be a part of that plan. We are believing that God will bring healing, restoration and unity to this people in a way that He alone will receive the glory—and we wait with expectation!

But it doesn’t just stop there. We have a vision for a region, a state, a nation, a world—this is our community. Jesus told us to reach out to the very ends of the earth—and it is our joy to seek to be obedient to this call.
